Fun sized advice.
How can I get rid of heartburn?
Licorice root extract is demulcent and soothes the esophageal tract when you have heartburn. Or try DGL licorice. Best answer is to avoid it: take a digestive enzyme and cut out the booze, gluten, and dairy.
What can I take to balance my hormones?
I assume you mean female hormones, which usually means high estrogen in relation to progesterone. Try a chaste berry (vitex) women’s herbal blend or take wild yam extract from days 14-28 of your cycle to boost progesterone.
Why am I so tired in the afternoons?
Most often due to too much coffee and sugar (or even foods that break down into sugar) earlier in the day. Eat protein & veggies for breakfast and lunch–no grain based meals.
What’s the best way to kick coffee?
Switch out coffee for green tea, and titrate down slowly, mixing decaff with your regular coffee until you wean yourself off. This will help you avoid headaches.
What do I take for constipation? How do I get rid of occasional diarrhea?
Try taking magnesium, up to 500 mg, if you are constipated. For diarrhea, take a probiotic every hour until it clears up. Chia seeds in water or a smoothie help, too. If you have alternating diarrhea and constipation, it is a sign of candida overgrowth or digestive infections.
Are you anti-vegetarian?
I love this question. I am pro vegetable! A vegetarian diet is not right for everyone, especially if you are prone to weight gain, high cholesterol, fatigue, depression, or hormonal/thyroid issues. Also, avoid soy. YUCK.
How can I lose weight quick?
My red carpet 7 day cleanse is as follows: dump sugar, grains, gluten, dairy, booze, and coffee for 7 days. Drink lots of water and fresh vegetable juice (NOT V-8) and liver cleansing herbal tea blends, and focus on protein, lots of veggies, fruits, and good fats.
What supplements should I be taking?
I don’t believe in taking supplements just to take them, so it depends on your health concerns/goals. Usually you can’t go wrong with a fatty acid supplement and a probiotic.
How do I eat out while on a gluten free diet?
Easy! Avoid the bread basket! You can also substitute out bread or grain based sides with veggies, just ask. Also ask about sauces.
